Bandbreitentest

Setup

• bw.py from https://github.com/freifunkh/netcheck
• Iperf3 from harvester to supernodes.
• Data is pushed to influxdb.
• Measurement interval is 5 min.

Raw Results (5min)

First, I looked into the raw results returned by iperf3. Each Datapoint is one second. One Measurement is 300s, so 300 datapoints are visible here:

Since this measurement is quite "noisy", we generate aggregate measurements. In that measurements, we take the average of 300s and store it as one datapoint.

Results over a Day (24h)

Since this depends on the traffic of other clients on that day, here we have the total vpn traffic stats for that time range. This of course also includes the traffic that we generate using iperf3. It gives a glimpse of how much vpn load the servers have:

Of course, this data is aggregated over fastd and wireguard. This is not a really accurate measurement of vpn load, since fastd and wireguard have different load per mbit/s. However, it gives a glimpse…
